We’ve been thinking … 2020 was a dark period for many. The world stopped turning; stopped whirling. Suddenly, we were forced into a Parental-type Time-out.🙅
2020 was the year of our transforming, but did we ‘learn our lesson’ or will we be returning to the corner with the ‘dunce cap’ on our head?🤔
In 2012, David wrote a post on Facebook. He called it “Cold tangerines”. In it, he wrote:
I want a life that sizzles & pops. A life that makes me laugh out loud! I don’t want to make it to the end, or even tomorrow, and realize that my life is just a collection of empty interactions, meetings, errands, wasted dreams & dirty laundry. I want to eat cold tangerines and sing out loud in the car with all the windows down… To stay up all night laughing while painting my walls the color that the sky is right now! … I want to make God belly laugh, 😂 to make Him glad that He gave the gift of life to someone who loves the gift He gave him.Cold Tangerines, by David Starkey
That post summed it up, for us. That’s the message for the day. While analyzing this Old Year/New Year paradigm we have ahead of us now, we took note and asked some questions to try to figure out the true message we wanted to share for this first New Year/New You post: During last year’s lockdown, …
- Did we learn who we are?
- Did we learn to love ourselves?
- Did we learn our personal mission in life, and
- Did we learn to make God proud?
- Did we give ANY time to God, contemplating and trying to figure out what exactly would make him proud of us?🤔
We know these were not the things running through our heads all of 2020, but maybe it’s not too late. Maybe it’s time to reevaluate our purpose in life.
We know we didn’t plan to live life chained to a desk when we set out on our own after high school. Many of us wanted to help the world and make it a better place …. with our music or our writing or our artwork or our comedic timing, or … [fill in what you do best.]
But then we got stuck in the “Rat Race” and kept on working for someone else in order to make a better future for our kids, as we changed our personal goal to the new carrot stick of our Retirement.
Imagine how we can change our future into one where we VALUE ourselves enough to live a life we love! A life where our definition of success is not a BIGGER house or a Newer car. A NEW definition. Then, we can make God proud because we are actually living this life He gave us.
I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to be born into THAT new world. 👍
Happy New You, my friends.
Class is now in session. (I’ll be perfecting crocheting toys next!)🤶
